Arrest of subject possessing nearly 9,000 packs of smuggled cigarettes

    Dong Thap - Police temporarily detained a suspect for possessing 8,980 packs of smuggled cigarettes and 3 motorbikes used to transport smuggled cigarettes.

    Dong Thap police said that at 0:30 on September 26, the Department of Investigation Police on Crimes of Corruption, Economy, Smuggling, and Environment of the Provincial Police coordinated with Cao Lanh City Police, Dong Thap Province to inspect house number 1376/2, National Highway 30, Group 8, Hamlet 1, Ward 11, Cao Lanh City, owned by Nguyen Huu Tam (born in 1970).

    Through inspection, the police force discovered and caught red-handed in Tam's house 8,980 packs of smuggled foreign cigarettes of various types and 03 motorbikes used to transport smuggled foreign cigarettes.

    The case is being further investigated and handled by the Investigation Police Agency of Dong Thap Province Police according to the provisions of law.
