The Investigation Police Agency of Da Nang City Police is investigating the case "Using computer networks, telecommunications networks, and electronic means to appropriate property" committed by Le Thanh Vu, Luong Cong Hay and accomplices, with a scope of influence in many localities.
The investigation process determined that the group of subjects took advantage of the Facebook social network to search for articles related to MoMo, ZaloPay e-wallets, cases of mistaken money transfers or errors in banking transactions. From there, the subjects searched for phone numbers, verified e-wallet users to approach victims.
After receiving information, the subjects impersonate the wrong money recipient or bank staff to create trust. This group provides false information, guiding victims to provide personal data such as citizen identification cards, bank account information, and at the same time requesting to perform "verification" and "account linking" operations with e-wallets. When victims provide OTP codes, the subjects quickly take control of MoMo and ZaloPay wallets, and illegally transfer money to accounts managed by the group and then appropriate it.
Based on the collected documents, the investigating agency determined that the group of subjects used many bank accounts and electronic wallets to commit crimes, including ZaloPay accounts and bank accounts in the names of many different individuals: Specifically, Zalopay account number 0779258005 in the name of Cao Thi Thu Thuy; Zalopay account number 0762750879 in the name of Nguyen Dang Phi; Zalopay account number 0763157771 in the name of Ha Thi Hong Duyen; MBbank bank account number 0706707077 in the name of Nguyen Phuong Hung; BIDV bank account number 8851351777 in the name of Ha Thi Binh.
