The three subjects include: Pham Thu Thao (born in 1991, residing in Viet Hung ward, Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province); Nguyen Van Thuy (born in 1994, residing in Bai Sim village, Tan Hung commune, Lang Giang district, Bac Giang province); Nguyen Hoang Son (born in 2001, residing in Truc Cau village, Nghia Dan commune, Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province) was prosecuted and detained to investigate the act of "producing and trading counterfeit goods as pesticides", according to the provisions of Clause 2, Article 195 of the Penal Code.
Previously, at 3:00 p.m. on April 18, 2025, the Economic Police Department coordinated with Viet Hung Ward Police to inspect Pham Thu Thao's residence.
Here, the authorities discovered and seized: 6 Arion branded seed bags manufactured by Star food Vietnam Co., Ltd.; 1 heat-welded plastic bag welder; 2,350 packages and 5,600 packages of herbicide products with the brand name BIOGLY88.8SP of Nong Sinh Co., Ltd. and many other related exhibits.
Checking the car with license plate 14A-409.24 parked in Thao's yard, the authorities discovered 1,655 more packages of herbicide branded BIOGLY88.8SP ready to be sold.
At the time of inspection, the subjects could not present documents proving the origin and origin of the goods, and voluntarily handed over an additional 280 packages of fake herbicides, 14 pineapple sacks containing Arion seed, 5,200 packages of fake herbicides and many other evidences that were hidden at Thao's house, next door.
Through the struggle, Nguyen Van Thuy confessed that he and his accomplices produced about 60,000 packages of fake herbicides, illegally profiting nearly 600 million VND.
To forge, Thuy went on Facebook to order 80,000 packages of herbicide branded BIOGLY88.8SP for 100 million VND, and bought 10 packages of genuine drug samples to learn how to pack and ingredients.
Discovering that the medicine contained small yellow particles like seasoning seeds, Thuy and Thao decided to use ARION branded seasoning seeds (priced at 370,000 VND/bag of 20kg) to fake as active ingredients, then packaged them at Thao's house and stored them at Thao's oncle's house.
According to the investigation, Thuy and Thao discussed and selected the herbicide product BIOGLY88.8SP of Nong Sinh Company Limited (located in Ha Mo commune, Dan Phuong district, Hanoi) as a sample to fake because this is a product that is being consumed heavily on the market.
After producing fake goods, Thuy and Thao created two Facebook fanpages named "Tru Co Luu Dan Biogly 888" and "Diet Co Tan Goc biogly88" to advertise and sell goods. The two subjects spent a total of 134,365,000 VND to run advertisements on social networks, reaching customers nationwide.
According to the verification results, from February 21 to April 17, 2025, the three subjects sold 62,455 packages of fake herbicide to most provinces and cities across the country. The total number of counterfeit goods produced was up to more than 66,000 packages, bringing in a profit of nearly 600 million VND.
The Economic Police Department, Quang Ninh Provincial Police, stated: The subjects in this ring operate sophisticatedly and secretly, from the stage of printing packaging, packaging, advertising on cyberspace to signing contracts with express delivery companies to distribute counterfeit goods to 59 provinces and cities nationwide. This behavior not only causes damage to farmers, affects the reputation of Vietnamese agricultural products, but also poses a serious harm to public health and the environment.
Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Quang Ninh Province continues to investigate and expand the case, strictly handling the subjects according to the provisions of the law.
