Worried about gasoline prices continuing to increase, many people fill up their tanks
Concerned that gasoline prices may continue to rise due to tensions in the Middle East, according to reporters' records in recent days, the number of people and vehicles coming to gas stations in Hanoi to refuel has increased higher than usual.
At a gas station in the Cau Giay area, from last night to noon today, the number of customers coming to fill up with gasoline has increased. Gasoline pumping staff have to work continuously, almost at full capacity to serve the needs of the people.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Nam (resident in Cau Giay ward) shared: "Gasoline prices have increased and are forecast to continue to increase in the near future, while passenger fares remain unchanged. This will certainly affect the income of technology drivers, so we are quite worried," Mr. Nam confided.

However, besides gas stations that have to operate at full capacity, continuously importing more fuel to meet people's needs, at some other gas stations, the number of customers is still quite stable.
Recorded at Lac Long Quan gas station (Cau Giay ward, Hanoi), the number of people coming to refuel has not changed much compared to normal days. Even at Dong Do gas station (Tay Ho ward), there are times when customers are quite sparse.
According to reporters' observations, the number of people coming to gas stations increased sharply during two peak hours: from 11am to 1pm and from 9pm to 0am. Although it is peak hours, gas stations are all operating at full capacity to serve people.
2nd largest oil refinery operates stably
Faced with the escalating conflict in the Middle East between the United States, Israel and Iran, which strongly affects the oil market, transportation and global supply chains, Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang - General Director of Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (BSR) has just issued a Directive on responding to the impacts of the war situation, and at the same time activating risk management plans to ensure the safe, stable, and efficient operation of Dung Quat Oil Refinery and contribute to maintaining national energy security.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang requested the entire system to focus on implementing a number of key tasks to maintain stable and efficient production operations. In which, the Factory and Technical Blocks need to focus maximum resources to ensure Dung Quat Oil Refinery operates safely, stably, continuously, efficiently and maintains maximum capacity according to plan.
At the same time, units need to coordinate to implement solutions to optimize production, improve operation and maintenance efficiency, and closely monitor domestic and international market developments to promptly adjust production plans accordingly.
In addition, the General Director of BSR also requested departments to coordinate with the Central Petroleum Biofuel Plant to maintain stable production operations, ensure ethanol supply for blending E5 and E10 biofuel, and strictly implement the Government's policy on developing biofuels and reducing emissions in the energy sector.

On the afternoon of March 6, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Communications Department of Dung Quat Refinery said that the factory has a processing capacity of 6.5 million tons of crude oil per year, meeting more than 30% of domestic gasoline and oil demand. However, the factory does not statistically quantify the amount of gasoline and oil supplied to each locality.
On March 6, the Ministry of Industry and Trade's electronic information portal informed that Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN)'s crude oil production currently reaches about 180,000 barrels/day. Of which, about 150,000 barrels/day are supplied to Dung Quat Oil Refinery.
Regarding production capacity, Dung Quat Oil Refinery can maintain stable operation at a capacity of about 118% at least until the end of April 2026 and ensure gasoline and oil supply according to contracts signed with key traders.
Meanwhile, Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Plant is still maintaining stable operation with raw materials to ensure production plans in the coming time.
Thus, the two large domestic oil refineries, Dung Quat and Nghi Son, are still operating normally, ensuring the supply of gasoline and oil to key traders under signed contracts until the end of March 2026.
