Sedimented channel, difficult for ships to enter and exit
According to reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper, currently in Ha Tinh, there are fishing ports with channel siltation, such as Xuan Hoi fishing port (Dan Hai commune), Cua Sot (Loc Ha commune) and Cua Nhuong (Thien Cam commune).
This situation makes it difficult for ships to go out to sea and dock, especially at low tide when silted sand strips are clearly visible.
Fishermen in localities have repeatedly petitioned functional agencies to soon dredge channels to create favorable conditions for ships to go to sea, dock in ports as well as anchor and shelter from storms in the upcoming rainy and storm season.
Not only fishermen, local authorities have also repeatedly reflected the serious siltation situation at fishing ports.
Mr. Tran Quynh Thao - Chairman of Dan Hai Commune People's Committee - said that Xuan Hoi fishing port has been silted up for many years. Currently, the silting situation is increasingly serious, narrowing the anchorage area for ships and boats, causing many difficulties for seafood exploitation activities. Therefore, the locality wishes to soon deploy dredging of channels and anchorage areas in front of the port.
Meanwhile, leaders of Thien Cam Commune People's Committee said that although Cua Nhuong fishing port has just been invested and put into use, the channel has been silted up, affecting the entry and exit of ships from the port. Early dredging is necessary for fishermen to feel secure in sticking to the sea and developing the economy.
Have proposed dredging projects
On August 6, Mr. Mai Van Luan - Director of the Management Board of fishing ports and storm shelters for fishing boats in Ha Tinh - said that the siltation situation at Xuan Hoi, Cua Sot and Cua Nhuong fishing ports is too clear, especially at low tide.
Regarding the channel of Cua Nhuong fishing port, after the Ministry of Construction issued a decision announcing the list of projects for dredging maritime waters and inland waterway waters, Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee is directing units to advise on project implementation in the form of socialization.
According to the decision of the Ministry of Construction, the dredging project combined with product recovery is implemented on the national inland waterway channel Rao Cai - Gia Hoi, section from Km1+600 to Km12+500, in the period 2026 - 2030.
Also according to Mr. Luan, Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee has proposed to the Government to allocate funds from the compensation for marine environmental incident of Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Co., Ltd. to implement a number of dredging projects.
In which, the project to dredge the channel and puddle in front of Cua Sot fishing port is proposed with a budget of 60 billion VND; the project to dredge Xuan Hoi fishing port combined with building a sand barrier on the sea side is proposed with about 200 billion VND.
