On the afternoon of October 28, Mr. Than Quoc Te - Deputy Director of the Management Board of Ha Tinh fishing ports and fishing wharves - said that the unit has received the project to manage and operate Cua Nhuong fishing port and Thach Kim fishing port (expanded).
According to Mr. Te, in the past, the Management Board of Ha Tinh Fishing Port and Wharf has coordinated with the investor, the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects of the Agricultural and Rural Development Sector, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and local authorities to carry out land procedures and procedures to grant environmental licenses and prepare for the announcement of port opening.
"It is expected that the opening of the port at Cua Nhuong Fishing Port will be announced next week," said Mr. Te.
At Thach Kim fishing port, according to Mr. Te, this is an expansion and upgrade project, it continues with the old port that has been exploited for many years, so the procedures will also be simpler. However, the procedures that must be implemented according to regulations are also being implemented.
As Lao Dong has reported, the Cua Nhuong Fishing Port Construction Investment Project and the Thach Kim Fishing Port Expansion Investment Project have been behind schedule in construction.
After completing the construction, the Cua Nhuong Fishing Port project was seriously plagued by fishermen, and when the tide receded, the ships and boats had difficulty coming in and out of the port.
Regarding this issue, Ha Tinh is recommending the Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration to promptly carry out dredging and maintaining the national inland waterway of the Rao Cai - Gia Hoi river to ensure ships can easily enter and exit Cua Nhuong port.
In 2019, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 476 assigning the People's Committees of Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien Hue provinces to direct the implementation of investment in the projects "Construction and upgrading of fishing logistics service facilities" and the project "Restoration and regeneration of aquatic ecosystems and aquatic resources", using compensation for marine environmental incidents of Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation.
Implementing the above decision, Ha Tinh province has implemented 4 projects including: Investment project to build and expand Thach Kim fishing port; Investment project to build fishing logistics service infrastructure at Cua Khau storm shelter area in Ky Ha commune; Project to dredge and adjust the channel and entrance to Cua Hoi - Xuan Pho storm shelter area; Investment project to build Cua Nhuong Fishing Port.
However, the above projects were slow to be implemented, so the Prime Minister later granted an extension.
The Cua Nhuong Fishing Port Project (in Cam Nhuong Commune, now Thien Cam Commune) has a total investment of 280 billion VND, and was started on January 20, 2024.
This fishing port project has a capacity of 400CV ships that can enter and exit the port during the dry season, a capacity of 100 trips/day, and about 16,000 tons/year of seafood passing through the port, meeting the requirements of a level 2 fishing port.
The investment project to expand Thach Kim Fishing Port (old Thach Kim commune, now Loc Ha commune) started construction in May 2024 with a total investment of 60 billion VND.
The Cua Nhuong and Thach Kim fishing port projects were completed in early 2025.
In particular, the project to invest in building infrastructure for fishing logistics services at Cua Khau storm shelter area in Ky Ha commune (now Hai Ninh ward) was completed and put into use from June 2023.
The project to dredge and adjust the channel and entrance to Cua Hoi - Xuan Pho Storm Shelter (in the old Xuan Pho commune, now Dan Hai commune) with a total investment of 20 billion VND has not yet been implemented due to the proposal to increase capital.
