According to this decision, in case a person is eligible to buy or rent social housing according to the law and already owns a house but is 30km or more away from the workplace, he/she will enjoy social housing support policies.
However, they are only allowed to buy or rent social housing in a location closer to their workplace than the house they already own.
The distance between an owner's house and a workplace is determined according to the shortest length of the road or waterway traffic route.
Similarly, the distance between social housing expected to be purchased or rented and the workplace is also calculated by the shortest traffic route.
This decision officially takes effect from July 1, 2025 to May 31, 2030.
It is known that this policy aims to concretize the provisions in Clause 2, Article 9 of Resolution No. 201 dated May 29, 2025 of the National Assembly on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for social housing development.
The addition of regulations helps remove obstacles for many workers, civil servants, and public employees who are living away from work, creating more convenient and reasonable conditions for access to social housing.
