On August 4, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Tam Thang Ward People's Committee said that the Apartment Management Board is coordinating with the investor to implement the coverage of the crack on the 16th floor, ensuring safety for people living in PVC-IC Diamond apartment building (also known as Lapen Center apartment building, 33A 30/4 street, Tam Thang ward).
Recorded at the scene on August 4, the scaffolding in the cracked wall area of apartment building 18-06 has been nearly completed. The apartment management board said that the construction has been carried out since August 2, and is expected to be completed on August 5, after which, the net will be covered to prevent breakage.
Currently, the investor has reported to the authorities to select a suitable unit, conduct technical inspection work, and assess the safety level of the project according to regulations.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction issued a document requesting the Management Board to coordinate with the investor, the Petroleum Industrial and Civil Construction Joint Stock Company (PVC-IC), to take measures to dismantle or prevent cracked surrounding walls outside apartment 16-08. On August 1, the investor submitted a document to the People's Committee of Tam Thang Ward about the implementation, but could not directly construct at the site because the procedures had to be carried out according to regulations. At the same time, they sent invitations to 4 units with professional capacity to participate in the survey and technical inspection.
On July 23, residents of Lapen Center apartment building discovered a large crack in the 16-08 apartment area, so they reported it to the authorities.
Tam Thang Ward People's Committee has assigned the Department of Economy, Infrastructure and Urban Areas to coordinate with the Ward Police, Investors, and Management Board to organize an inspection of the current situation. Thereby, the crack at the foot of the 16-08 apartment wall was determined to be about 5 cm wide and about 4 m long.
At the same time, warning ropes were stretched in areas at risk of unsafety at the foot of the apartment building; reported the incident to the Department of Construction and recommended inspection, assessment and direction to resolve the incident; requested the unit under construction to stop renovation and repair activities; the investor coordinated with relevant units to determine the cause of cracks and breaks in the project and propose solutions to overcome the problem, ensuring safety.
