On July 26, the People's Committee of Tam Thang Ward (HCMC) said that it had issued a document reporting to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction on handling cracks at PVC-IC Diamond apartment building (also known as Lapen Center apartment building, address 33A 30/4 street, Tam Thang Ward).
Previously, the discovery of cracks in the area of the 16th floor of the Lapen Center apartment building (34 floors above ground and 2 basements) created a panic among hundreds of households living here, and people quickly reported it to the authorities.
After receiving the report, Tam Thang Ward People's Committee assigned the Department of Economy, Infrastructure and Urban Areas to coordinate with the Ward Police, Investors, and Management Board to organize an inspection of the current situation. Thereby, the crack at the foot of the 16-08 apartment wall was determined to be about 5 cm open, about 4 m long.
Therefore, the authorities have put up warning ropes in the area at risk of insecurity at the foot of the apartment building; at the same time, report the incident to the Department of Construction and recommendations.
In particular, the People's Committee of Tam Thang Ward recommended that the Department of Construction conduct an inspection to assess and direct the resolution of the incident; requested the construction units under the renovation to stop activities; requested the investor to coordinate with relevant units to determine the cause of cracks and breaks in the project and propose solutions to overcome the problem, ensuring safety.
It is known that Lapen Center apartment building is about 126 m high, with a scale of 34 floors and 2 basements, inaugurated at the end of 2018. This apartment has about 486 apartments and many amenities such as a shopping mall, restaurant, cinema, sports area, swimming pool, etc.
