The My Tra - My Khe residential area project has been implemented since 2015 in Truong Quang Trong ward, and was once expected to become a model residential area thanks to its prime location: the back of Thien But mountain, the facade of Tra Khuc river. However, nearly 10 years after the groundbreaking day, the place that should have formed a modern urban area is just a wasteland, overgrown with grass, causing serious waste of the golden land of Quang Ngai province.

The project is invested by Quang Ngai Investment - Construction and Service Trading Company Limited (QISC), with a scale of over 19.4 hectares and a total investment of nearly 400 billion VND. According to the plan, the project must be completed and put into use from the fourth quarter of 2018. But until now, after nearly a decade, the project is still on the road.
In reality, the project's dozens of hectares of campus have become a spontaneous garbage collection site. Ms. T.T.L, who lives next to the project, shared: "I don't understand how they build a residential area, but for nearly 10 years now, they have only seen a vacant lot. In the dry or rainy season, my family has to close the back door for fear of snake bites and crawling in. Everyone hopes that the project will be completed so that the area will be cleaner, more bustling.

After many years of stagnation, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province decided to hand over the project to the Provincial Land Fund Development Center to develop an exploitation plan. The center has been communicating since 2020; up to now, the project has spent about 96 billion VND from the budget and bank loans but has not been able to complete the original target.
According to the province's land use fee collection plan, My Tra - My Khe residential area will have 285 plots of land up for auction, expected to collect 350 billion VND for the budget. However, with a series of long-term problems, the question is when will this prime land stop being deserted and really bring revenue to the province?
