On September 8, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province requested functional departments and People's Committees of communes to coordinate and support compensation and site clearance for the construction of the 220kV Pleiku 2 - Krong Buk line project (line 2).
This is a key and urgent project. The completion and energization in 2025 is to meet the capacity to transmit capacity from power plants in the Central Highlands to the national power system in the period up to 2030.
At the same time, it will improve the reliability and safety of power supply, reduce technical losses, and improve the quality of electricity on the power transmission grid in the provinces of Gia Lai, Dak Lak and Dak Nong (now Lam Dong province).
To ensure the project is completed on schedule, the Provincial People's Committee requested the Central Power Project Management Board to increase staff with sufficient experience and professional capacity in land, compensation, and site clearance.
Clearly assign responsibilities to each officer in charge of the area; regularly be present at the scene, closely coordinate with localities to implement the work smoothly, ensuring progress.
The People's Committees of Gao, Ia To, Bo Ngoong, Chu Se, Ia Hu, Chu Puh and Ia Khuol communes urgently establish a Compensation Council; organize the counting of foundation holes and route corridors, complete before September 15, 2025; approve the plan and complete the site clearance of the foundation before September 30, 2025.
Along with the Pleiku 2 - Krong Buk 220kV transmission line project, the Department of Industry and Trade of Gia Lai province also proposed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade speed up the 220kV Krong Pa Transformer Station project and the 220kV Krong Pa - Chu Se dual-circuit line (63 km long) in the Power Plan VIII approved by the Prime Minister.
This project is behind schedule, and the National Power Transmission Corporation has assigned Power Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company 1 to prepare a feasibility study report.
Due to the lack of a transformer station, the electricity capacity in the area cannot be completely cleared. Gia Lai Power Company must distribute and regulate power sources appropriately to avoid overloading and affecting the power grid system.
This makes businesses worry about reduced output on the grid, leading to a decrease in revenue and a waste of invested resources.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Gia Lai province, the locality currently has more than 16 wind power projects with a total investment of over VND43,197 billion; 7 large-scale hydropower plants invested by EVN with a total capacity of 1,841 MW.
Major hydropower projects such as Ia Ly expansion, Se San 3, Se San 4... and many solar power projects have also been approved in the plan. On average, hydropower and renewable energy projects bring more than VND900 billion to the provincial budget each year.
