On the morning of June 22, Hanoi City People's Committee officially started construction simultaneously of 5 urban railway lines and 3 large-scale rental housing projects.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Vu Dai Thang affirmed that this is one of the largest infrastructure and social security investment events ever in the Capital, opening a new development phase with strategically significant projects in the coming decades.
According to the Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee, the specific mechanisms and policies that the Central Government has for the Capital will only truly promote their value when they are transformed into specific projects, products and development results that people and businesses can feel in their daily lives.
Urban railway is the strategic infrastructure framework of the Capital
The master plan of the Capital with a 100-year vision identifies a multi-polar, multi-center development model, with a structure including 9 growth poles, 9 centers, 9 development axes and 8 economic - urban belts.
To realize this orientation, the urban railway system is identified as a strategic infrastructure framework, playing the role of the driving axis of the modern public transport system and is an important tool to reorganize urban development space.
According to Mr. Vu Dai Thang, the simultaneous commencement of 5 metro lines, about 303.5 km long with a preliminary total investment of more than 1.3 million billion VND, is considered a particularly important milestone, marking a shift from investing in each separate line to gradually forming a synchronous urban railway network on a city-wide scale.
Hanoi City leaders also believe that investing in urban railways is not only to solve the traffic problem but also to promote urban development according to the TOD model, effectively exploit land resources, strengthen regional linkages and gradually realize the multi-polar, multi-center urban model.
The city has assigned the Vinhomes - VinSpeed Joint Venture to take on the role of EPC general contractor for 5 urban railway lines.
Each railway line started today not only opens a new traffic corridor but also opens a new development space for Hanoi in the coming years.
This is not only the city's development plan but also Hanoi's commitment to the Government, to the people of the Capital and to the future development of the City," Mr. Vu Dai Thang emphasized when mentioning the basic goal of completing all 5 routes by 2030.
Forming a professional rental housing market
Along with investing in transport infrastructure, Hanoi identifies the development of rental housing as a strategic task to ensure social security and meet the diverse needs of people.
In the immediate future, Hanoi will implement 3 projects, with a total estimated investment capital of over 30,000 billion VND, including 2 projects using public resources and one project proposed for investment by businesses.
Hanoi City leaders highly appreciate the participation of businesses, especially Him Lam Joint Stock Company, when it proactively adjusted its investment orientation, allocating more than 11 hectares of land to develop about 4,000 long-term rental apartments.
According to the Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee, the three projects started this time are the first projects in the city's rental housing development program, creating a premise for forming a new housing segment.
The City's goal is to gradually form a professional, high-quality, affordable rental housing market; and at the same time contribute to reducing the pressure of owning a house at all costs, building a healthy, sustainable and internationally developed real estate market," Mr. Vu Dai Thang said.
Chairman of Hanoi City People's Committee also requested departments, branches, localities, investors, consulting units and contractors to focus maximum resources, proactively handle arising difficulties and obstacles, and not delay, affecting the progress and investment efficiency.
