On the morning of April 19, Vingroup officially started the project of Can Gio Beach Tourism Urban Area - Vinhomes Green Paradise. With a scale of 2,870 hectares and special ecological advantages, the project has a vision to become the world's leading ESG urban area, showing the level of ESG of Vietnam on the global map. The ceremony took place on the occasion of the whole country towards the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
Can Gio - Vinhomes Green Paradise coastal tourism urban area is located at the estuary of Long Hoa commune and Can Thanh town. This is a project that has an impact not only on Ho Chi Minh City but also creates growth momentum for the entire Southeast region, opening up a breakthrough vision for marine economic development at the national level.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, Can Gio district will become an ecological urban area, preserving biosphere reserves, focusing on developing the marine economy, especially transit ports and free trade zones; logistics transportation, tourism, marine ecological urban areas and renewable energy.
This is the largest coastal project in Ho Chi Minh City, creating a modern coastal supercity. The goal is to build Can Gio coastal tourism urban area into an urban area of sea tourism, resort tourism, seminars, conferences, smart cities; integrating high-tech services, diverse housing, commercial services, international-class hotels.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the project, Mr. Duong Ngoc Hai, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that Can Gio is the only land of the city bordering the sea, with a rich natural ecosystem, converging all conditions to become a new development pole: both nature conservation and promotion of tourism, services, logistics and marine economy potential. However, to develop this area, new urban models, new approaches, and responsible, methodical investment are needed.
With a scale of 2,870 hectares and an estimated population of about 230,000 people, the project is not only a simple urban area but is positioned as an international standard ecological - smart - resort - service city. This is a pioneering model in combining technology - renewable energy - ecosystem conservation and human development.
Ho Chi Minh City leaders also highly appreciated the project's planning vision when prioritizing the development of green and sustainable factors, such as offshore wind power systems, zero-emission transportation, environmentally friendly materials, and especially the harmony with Can Gio Biosphere Reserve.
The Can Gio - Vinhomes Green Paradise Coastal Tourism Urban Area Project is developed according to the most advanced urban model in the world today - ESG (Environmental - Social - Governance) with the harmonious motto of one-tech people - nature, to realize the vision of sustainable development and make the most of natural ecological advantages.
In particular, with the goal of developing urban areas using classified renewable energy, Vingroup will invest in developing a wind power system 10 km from the shore to provide clean power for the super urban area and open up a green future for the whole region.
With a strategic location, connected to the inner city through the Ho Chi Minh City - Can Gio high-speed urban railway line with the maximum mobility of up to 250km/h and special ecological value and a sustainable green development vision, the Can Gio coastal urban tourism project will promote the strength of the very important eastern gateway location of Ho Chi Minh City, an important core, deciding the future of marine economic development of Can Gio district and Ho Chi Minh City in general.
