The TNG Viet Bac social housing project started construction at the end of February 2026, on an area of nearly 1.9ha. The project has a total investment of more than 1,230 billion VND, with a scale of 1,029 social housing apartments in 2 22-story apartment buildings, along with 26 commercial housing units.
According to PV's records, at the construction site, dozens of workers and equipment are being mobilized to speed up the project progress.
In the high-rise building block, tower 1 has completed 125/169 bored piles, ensuring the foundation for the next construction steps.
Regarding technical infrastructure, the installation of dyke body molds reached about 80%. At the same time, the processing and installation of dyke foundation steel and foundation molds were deployed. The item of pouring concrete for box culverts has been completed 100%.
According to the plan, the project will be implemented in 36 months. However, the investor committed to shortening the completion time to 24 months.
When completed, the project is expected to provide stable housing for about 2,400 people. From there, it contributes to improving living conditions for workers, laborers and policy beneficiaries.
About 4km from the Viet Bac project, the worker housing and social housing area in Tich Luong ward is also being accelerated.
The project is located on an area of nearly 11 hectares with a total investment of more than 900 billion VND. The scale includes many rows of houses along with auxiliary and landscape systems, meeting over 1,450 apartments.
Reporters recorded that after more than 3 years of construction, the project's shape has gradually emerged.
At the construction site, many building blocks have completed the rough construction, and some buildings are entering the interior finishing phase. Technical infrastructure systems, internal roads and landscapes are also being deployed synchronously.
According to the investor, contractors are mobilizing resources, focusing on completing items, striving to complete 300 apartments in 2026 as committed.
When completed, the project will not only contribute to solving housing needs for workers and low-income people, but also create urban highlights, promoting socio-economic development of the locality.
According to the plan, in the period 2026 - 2030, Thai Nguyen is assigned to develop 24,800 social housing units. However, based on the provincial planning for the period 2021 - 2030, vision to 2050, Thai Nguyen has adjusted and supplemented the target to 60,000 units by 2030.
Currently, the whole province has reviewed and identified 73 projects and locations of land funds for social housing development with a total area of about 258.81ha.
To date, the whole province has completed 7,691 social housing units. In 2026, the province will focus on implementing projects that have been approved for investment policy, with about 16,191 units.
It is expected that in 2026, Thai Nguyen will complete about 5,661 units.
In the period 2027 - 2030, the locality is expected to continue to approve the investment policy for the remaining 36 projects.
