Hanoi Department of Construction reorganizes traffic on Thang Long Avenue to serve the construction of section S6 – S7, belonging to the urban railway project line No. 5 (Van Cao - Ngoc Khanh - Lang - Hoa Lac).
The urban railway line No. 5 project is about 39.6km long, including underground, elevated and ground sections; with 20 stations and 2 depots in Son Dong and Hoa Lac. Expected implementation time until 2030. The project uses budget capital combined with EPC general contractor form. The project is of great significance in connecting traffic, protecting the environment, reducing emissions; and at the same time implementing mechanisms and policies according to the Capital Law 2024, the Public Investment Law 2024 and resolutions of the National Assembly.
The project is identified as the backbone of the western region, connecting Ba Dinh political - administrative center with Hoa Lac satellite city; reducing traffic pressure, creating motivation for socio-economic development and promoting the formation of a multi-polar, modern urban structure.
According to the plan, the scope of the barrier is about 695m long; each side occupies 1 lane 3.75m wide from the median strip. After the barrier, the remaining road surface is about 9.05–10.5m wide.
Functional agencies reduced traffic speed to 60km/h when passing through the construction area in both directions Hanoi - Hoa Lac and vice versa; and at the same time allowed vehicles to enter the emergency stop lane in this section.
In the process of implementation, the Department of Construction requests the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board to fully arrange signs, warning lights, and lighting; organize remote traffic diversion, and be on duty 24/24h to ensure traffic safety and promptly handle congestion.
Contractors must implement dust reduction measures such as mist spraying, ensuring environmental sanitation and labor safety; construct in a "rolling" manner to limit impact on traffic.
Functional forces coordinate to guide, divert traffic and handle violations, ensuring smooth traffic on the route.
Traffic diversion time is from March 20, 2026 to the end of March 20, 2027.
