First, the kitchen should not be completely closed in the middle of the house. The kitchen space needs to have at least one open side to the outside such as a balcony, backyard or skylight to ensure air circulation.
If the kitchen is sealed, smoke, odors and heat will accumulate, affecting air quality and hygiene in the house. This situation often occurs when the house is expanded, causing the original kitchen area in the back to "slip" into the middle of the house.
Second, the kitchen should be arranged away from the bedroom. The kitchen is a place for cooking, generating high heat and generating smoke and grease odors. If placed too close to the bedroom, these factors can affect sleep and health, causing discomfort, stuffiness or respiratory irritation.
Third, the kitchen should not be placed next to the bathroom. These are two areas with completely different usage characteristics: the kitchen needs to be dry and clean, while the bathroom is humid and prone to bacteria.
If arranged too close, moisture and odors from the bathroom can affect the cooking area. In case the design cannot be changed, it is necessary to increase ventilation, keep both areas dry and ventilated, and close the door when not in use.
Finally, do not place the kitchen right in front of the house or facing the main door. This can easily cause the smell of food, smoke and heat to spread to the common living area or outside, affecting the living experience and the aesthetics of the living space.
