Series of public assets left unused and wasted
Recorded in Thu Dau Mot ward, the old headquarters of the Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Committee on Ngo Quyen street became a deserted building. On Ly Thuong Kiet street, the old headquarters of the Binh Duong Provincial Red Cross Society is just an empty lot. The ground of this facility has been leveled but cannot be reused.
Meanwhile, in Phu Loi ward, there are still many old, redundant, vacant or partially used headquarters such as: the former Binh Duong Irrigation Sub-Department headquarters on Doan Thi Lien street, the old Binh Duong Television Station headquarters on Binh Duong Avenue, the old Binh Duong Provincial State Treasury headquarters on Binh Duong Avenue, the former Binh Duong Provincial Digital Transformation Center on Trinh Hoai Duc street, and the old Thu Dau Mot citadel on Hoang Hoa Tham street.
Notably, the old headquarters of the Binh Duong Provincial Statistics Office (on Doan Thi Lien street) is facing an elementary school. However, this project has not yet been able to convert its function to serve educational activities.
On April 8, reporters recorded that the two gates of this headquarters were closed. Inside the campus of about 1,000m2 is abandoned, with overgrown grass and trees that have not been cut down for a long time. Inside the headquarters, the main 2-story building is closed, covered with dust inside. And three small blocks of houses around are also closed. The security house right at the entrance door has been damaged, the surrounding area is messy. According to records, many items of the blocks are degraded, showing signs of damage.
In Binh Duong ward, the old Binh Duong Provincial Administrative Center building, formerly used as the headquarters of nearly 60 agencies and units. After being merged into Ho Chi Minh City, many floors of the building are vacant and cannot be reused.

Arranging and converting the function of reusing public headquarters
Abandoned and increasingly degraded headquarters make people feel sorry and worried that if it continues to be prolonged, it will cause waste and loss of huge resources from state assets. Talking to reporters, leaders of Thu Dau Mot Ward People's Committee said that they are coordinating with departments and branches of Ho Chi Minh City to review and re-allocate old headquarters in the area.
Leaders of Phu Loi Ward People's Committee informed that the locality has established an inspection team for old headquarters. The inspection team has recorded advantages and difficulties and proposed planning orientations and effective use of public land funds. Thereby, to serve the development of social welfare infrastructure in the locality such as: Construction and expansion of schools, medical facilities, green parks, and neighborhood offices.
According to the leader of Phu Loi Ward People's Committee, the ward has reported and proposed to convert the function of the old headquarters of Binh Duong Statistics Department into a school. Departments and branches of Ho Chi Minh City have come to inspect and survey again. Units are carrying out procedures for transfer to the locality. When the procedures are completed, this headquarters will be repaired and used for schools in the area.
For the old Binh Duong Provincial Administrative Center Building, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee is currently carrying out procedures for functional conversion and allocating the building to state-owned enterprises for management and use. According to the orientation, this building will be converted to use as a space for scientific research, application, community connection, and creative startups.
Repair to put a hospital of 300 beds into use
Also in Binh Duong ward, the Psychiatric Hospital (built with a scale of 300 beds with an investment capital of about 240 billion VND) has been vacant for 8 years. Due to being abandoned for a long time, this facility is seriously degraded. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that it has recently surveyed and worked with the Binh Duong Construction Investment Project Management Board to discuss a plan to repair this facility. Leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee directed the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance to allocate funds to renovate this hospital to put it into operation in 2026.
