Although it brings many amenities in daily life, the three-compartment bathroom also has many limitations. First of all, this type of design requires a fairly large area, while the bathrooms of many families today are only about 3-4 m2. With a small space, arranging toilets, lavabos, washing machines and separate bath areas is already difficult, not to mention having to add partitions to divide functional areas.
In addition, the cost of renovation and construction is also significantly higher than a regular bathroom. To separate the dry area and the wet area, many families have to move the lavabo out, meaning they need to add a waterproof layer, change the pipe system and lay new tiles. The installation of glass walls or partitions between the restroom and the bathroom also significantly increases the completion cost.
Another disadvantage is that this type of bathroom requires a suitable apartment floor space. Not every house layout can be easily divided into three separate areas. Homeowners often have to adjust interior design according to the current status of the apartment, making the construction process more complicated. In the long term, maintenance is also more labor-intensive and costly because the water system, waterproofing and partitions have many items that need periodic inspection.
However, for large families or those who need to use bathrooms regularly, the three-compartment model is still highly appreciated for its ability to optimize function and limit the situation of having to wait when living. If the house area is large enough and the budget allows, this is still a worthwhile solution to improve the convenience of the living space.
