On June 24, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province issued a document informing about the planning, investment plan, and expected investment plan for the expressway connecting Long Thanh airport and Ho Tram area (Xuyen Moc district).
In which, the name of the expressway is "Ho Tram Urban Expressway - Long Thanh International Airport", starting point is the intersection with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 and DT 991 Road (Phu My City); ending point is the intersection with DT 994 Coastal Road (in Xuyen Moc District). It is expected to invest in 4 lanes in the period of 2021-2030 with a traffic speed of 100-120km/h and complete the intersections connecting to national and provincial highways.
Then, it will be expanded to 6 lanes after 2030; the total land area is estimated at about 365 hectares. The project is expected to invest in the construction of works under the public-private partnership (PPP) method.
Regarding investment capital, the budget will carry out site clearance; and call on investors to invest in construction works using capital from enterprises or other legal capital sources. Previously, the Provincial People's Council passed a resolution to allocate about 1,000 billion VND in public investment capital to implement the project.
According to the Provincial People's Committee, the expressway connecting Long Thanh - Ho Tram has a total length of about 41 km; the total estimated investment capital is about VND17,000 billion; of which, the cost of site clearance is about VND4,500 billion. This is a traffic route directly connecting to Long Thanh airport, the fastest and shortest transportation option to develop the Ho Tram area more effectively; at the same time, creating a boost in infrastructure development and strongly promoting connectivity in the Southeast region.
The inclusion of this expressway in the planning is an important step forward in the province's strategy for sustainable development of transport infrastructure, developing a modern road network, synchronously connecting with economic centers, seaports, and airports.
