Recently, the Investigation Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security has prosecuted 74 defendants for 10 charges, related to violations of monitoring in many provinces and cities across the country.
According to the indictment, a series of plants such as thermal power plants (including Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant) or aluminum and steel companies, environmental companies are large units that emit emissions and wastewater.
However, environmental indicators when transmitted to the management agency, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, are all intervened and revised from exceeding the threshold to within the permissible threshold.

Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant is located in Thai Binh Power Center with a large capacity, built in My Loc commune, Thai Thuy district, old Thai Binh province (now Dong Thai Ninh commune, new Hung Yen province). After many changes, on April 27, 2023, the plant was inaugurated and generated commercial electricity, connected to the national grid.
According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant is located near the Tra Ly and Dong Nan rivers in Tan Boi village, Dong Thai Ninh commune.

With a total area of 131.74ha, the Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant project has a capacity of 1,200 MW, a large-capacity project in the Red River Delta region.
Previously, at 8:07 am on December 11, 2025, Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant officially reached the commercial power generation output milestone of 15 billion kWh.
Currently, the case is still being expanded by the police force, clarifying the responsibilities of related organizations and individuals. The discovery of a series of units intervening and correcting environmental monitoring data not only raises the issue of legal compliance but also raises an alarm bell about the current environmental monitoring and management work.
