On May 9, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction said that in the period from now to 2030, the city will implement 44 urban embellishment projects along canals and ditches. The total number of houses along canals and ditches expected to be relocated is 23,429 units, with a total investment of more than 166,000 billion VND.
In Binh Dong, Chanh Hung and Phu Dinh 3 wards (formerly District 8) alone, they account for more than 65% of the total number of houses to be relocated throughout the city, with about 15,708 houses.
In these 3 wards, 21 projects will be implemented, including 17 budget-funded projects and 4 socialization projects, with a total investment of about 99. 474 billion VND.
Notably, the South bank of Doi canal will be divided into 4 projects.
The urban embellishment project in the South bank of Doi canal - the section from Rach Ong bridge to Mat bridge (Chanh Hung ward) is expected to clear 860 houses, with a total investment of more than 5,400 billion VND.
The urban embellishment project in the South bank of Doi canal - section from Mat bridge to Hiep An bridge (Chanh Hung ward) needs to clear 2,402 houses, with a total investment of more than 10,000 billion VND.
In Binh Dong ward, the urban embellishment project in the South bank of Doi canal - the section from Hiep An bridge to Ba Tang bridge is expected to relocate 1,278 households, with a total capital of nearly 9,600 billion VND.
The urban embellishment project in the South bank of Doi canal - the section from Ba Tang bridge to the end of the South bank of Doi canal is expected to clear 1,627 households, with a total investment of more than 10,000 billion VND.

Many other canal and ditch renovation projects will also be implemented simultaneously.

Rach Ong Lon urban embellishment project (Chanh Hung ward) relocates 720 houses, with a total capital of more than 3,500 billion VND.
Rach Ba Tang urban embellishment project (Binh Dong ward) relocates 393 houses, with a total capital of more than 3,200 billion VND.
The urban embellishment project combined with compensation, support, and resettlement of the Can Giuoc River (Binh Dong ward) relocates 250 houses, with a total investment of 1,381 billion VND.
In Phu Dinh ward, the Rach Ba Do urban embellishment project relocated 280 houses, with a total capital of 1,144 billion VND; the Rach Ba Ca urban embellishment project relocated 174 houses, with a total capital of about 1,010 billion VND.
Rach Du urban embellishment project, the section from Cao Lo street to Huynh Thi Phung street (Chanh Hung ward), clears 420 houses, with a total capital of 1,265 billion VND.
The Cau Don canal urban embellishment project (Binh Dong ward) relocates 106 houses, with a total capital of 1,375 billion VND.
The urban embellishment project of Bo De canal (Binh Dong ward) relocates 80 houses, with a total capital of 675 billion VND.
The urban embellishment project of Rach Ong Nho, the section from Cao Lo street to Rach Song Sang bridge (Chanh Hung ward) relocates 606 houses with a total capital of more than 3,513 billion VND.
The project to renovate the East bank of Xom Cui canal (Chanh Hung ward) relocates 287 houses, with a total capital of 2,138 billion VND.
The urban embellishment project on the West bank of Ong Nho canal (Chanh Hung ward) relocates 650 houses, with a total investment of more than 4,115 billion VND.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, in order to suit the trend of resolving resettlement by social housing for people living on and along canals and ditches, this unit proposes to implement 9 social housing projects to serve resettlement.
In which, 4 projects will be invested in the direction of socialization, without using public investment capital, in order to remove legal obstacles for investment cooperation projects of District 8 Public Service Company. The remaining 5 social housing projects serving resettlement will be invested with public capital.
