The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has gathered 24 players to prepare for the return matches of Group E of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers taking place in October. The first test showed that 11 players tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, then in the second test, 7 more players also tested positive.
BFF leaders were shocked by the above information. They decided to let the players take a re-examination at another hospital and the results are expected tomorrow (August 12). If the results remain unchanged, the players will be quarantined for treatment according to regulations. And the Bangladesh team will have to be dispersed for quarantine and treatment.
Coach Jamie Day is in England and has not been able to gather with the team yet. The British strategist said: "I didn't think so many players would be infected with COVID-19. All of them should be re-examined at another hospital and hopefully get better results"
Bangladesh is one of the Asian countries heavily affected by the COVID-19 epidemic with more than 250,000 people infected and more than 3,300 deaths.
The Bangladesh team is in Group E of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, along with Qatar, Oman, Afghanistan and India. Coach Jamie Day and his team are at the bottom of the table after 3 losses and have only had a 1-1 draw against India. Bangladesh has almost no chance to continue as they are 12 points behind the leader.
