Liverpool have reached a £125m deal - a record fee for English football - to sign striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle on the final day of the 2025 summer transfer window.
Previously, the reigning Premier League champions' £110 million offer in August was rejected. Since then, the 25-year-old has not been trained or played for Newcastle.
However, in the final hours of the transfer window, the two sides reached an agreement, ending the deadlock. The striker will undergo a medical examination, and the loyalty payment could push the total transfer fee up to £130 million.
Isak will undergo a medical examination at Anfield, in the context that Newcastle admitted that he no longer wants to continue playing for the club. At the same time, coach Eddie Howe's team announced the signing of striker Nick Woltemade.
Isak did not participate in the pre-season tour to Asia due to a thigh injury, and has since been absent from the Newcastle squad. The striker even had a period of private practice at Real Sociedad - his former club.
The Swedish striker has accused Newcastle of violating a commitment that he could leave if he received a suitable offer from a big club. The deal has now been finalized, with a leniency payment of £5 million, bringing the total transfer fee to £130 million.
Isak became Liverpool's eighth new signing this summer, marking the second time they have broken their own transfer record after signing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for £110 million. The total transfer cost of The Kop this summer is currently around 416 million pounds.
