According to British media, Arsenal have no plans to invest heavily in the January transfer window. They are only willing to make transfers if injuries occur or if they find suitable targets. But in short, there will be no major squad overhaul at Emirates in the 2025 winter market.
If the injury situation in defence does not improve, manager Mikel Arteta could target some temporary "fire-fighting" deals. Up front, they have no intention of recruiting any long-term solutions.
This season, the Gunners’ impressive ability to take advantage of set-pieces has helped the Gunners make up for their lack of attacking talent. Furthermore, Arsenal’s creativity has also been showing signs of decline. In that context, Gunners fans feel that a new striker could make the difference in helping Arsenal compete in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
Arsenal remain interested in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko. According to German media, the 21-year-old could be allowed to leave at the end of the season despite only signing a new contract this year. The Gunners have also been tracking Newcastle's Alexander Isak and Sporting's Viktor Gyokeres, among others.
They could also look to add a central midfielder, depending on decisions made regarding veterans Jorginho and Thomas Partey.
Gabriel Jesus could attract some interest as he struggles for regular game time at the Emirates, but Arteta dismissed suggestions earlier this month that the Brazilian could leave in January.
Arsenal are also likely to listen to offers for full-backs Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko. Defender Jakub Kiwior has attracted interest from Serie A clubs including Napoli, but Arteta is unlikely to part with the Polish international.
In addition, Jorginho and Partey are out of contract at the end of the season. Arteta has made positive moves to keep both players, but it depends on the upcoming situation. Jorginho is likely to only get a 1-year extension because he is 33 years old. As for Partey, this midfielder will have to accept a pay cut if he wants to stay at Emirates.
"We have a lot of options to deal with the current situation. But if there is an opportunity to strengthen the squad, we will be ready to consider it," said Arteta after the 5-1 win over Crystal Palace.
