During his time leading Manchester United, one of the statements that made coach Ruben Amorim most controversial was related to Benjamin Sesko. When asked about the 22-year-old striker - a £73.7 million contract from RB Leipzig - Amorim frankly said that it is "true" as Sesko is having difficulty adapting to the Premier League.
However, the view from the team's upper echelons is that those comments do not help a young player who is trying to get used to a new environment. Statistics also clearly reflect this when Sesko only scored 2 goals in 17 matches under Amorim.
Since Amorim left his position in early January, everything has completely changed. Sesko has scored 7 goals in 8 matches. First starting under coach Michael Carrick, he continued to score for the third consecutive match, helping M.U come back to win Crystal Palace 2-1 to rise to third place, after Arsenal and Manchester City.
I am very happy for Sesko. We work closely with him, build relationships and trust. He is a good player, has great strengths and can score many different types of goals. I am very excited about his potential" - Carrick shared.

More importantly, those were all decisive goals: equalizing in injury time against West Ham United, scoring the decisive goal against Everton and continuing to score against Palace. Since Amorim left, Sesko's goals against Burnley, Fulham, West Ham, Everton and Palace have directly brought 8 points. Without him, Man United would have been outside the top 6 instead of finishing third and having a bright chance of participating in the UEFA Champions League.
Carrick emphasized further: "He needs time to adapt. He is very eager, working hard and making outstanding progress. That was a great goal".
Sesko's revival actually began under Darren Fletcher, who showed him a video analyzing movements and goals before the Burnley match. Carrick then continued by giving absolute confidence. Sesko admitted: "One of the biggest changes is that everyone trusts me".
In terms of tactics, the difference is also clear. Under Amorim, the center forward receives few quality crosses. In the last match Amorim coached against Leeds United, Sesko did not even have a shot on target. Conversely, the goals under Carrick against Fulham, West Ham and Palace all came from crosses from both wings.
With a height of 1m96, Sesko is particularly dangerous in aerial combat. The goal against Palace was a powerful header after an assist from Bruno Fernandes, passing Jaydee Canvot and defeating goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Carrick - who has won 6/7 matches leading Man United this season - affirmed: "We are turning the tide with bravery and belief. This winning streak is very encouraging".
Currently, the "Red Devils" are the only unbeaten team in the Premier League since Boxing Day. In 2026, no player scored more goals without penalties than Sesko.
Every victory under Carrick makes the Amorim dynasty look back. And each goal of Sesko further proves that the previous difficult assessment was completely wrong. Man United is sublimating and Sesko is the clearest symbol of that revival.
