The FA Cup semi-final between Chelsea and Leeds United took place dramatically, with the initiative belonging to Calum McFarlane's team. Right from the first minutes, the speed was pushed up when both teams were eager for a ticket to the final at Wembley.
In the 23rd minute, from a sharp attacking combination on the right wing, Pedro Neto made an accurate cross into the penalty area. Enzo Fernandez chose a smart position, unleashing a dangerous header into the low corner, giving goalkeeper Lucas Perri no chance to save.
However, Leeds did not give up at all. In the 15th minute, Brenden Aaronson almost opened the score if it weren't for Robert Sanchez's excellent save. Right at the beginning of the second half, Anton Stach continued to try his luck with a low shot close to the post but still could not beat the Chelsea goalkeeper.
The second half became tense and trivial with a series of yellow cards drawn by referee Jarred Gillett. The Blues players such as Moises Caicedo, Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto all received penalties. To preserve the advantage, McFarlane made many tactical adjustments, bringing Andrey Santos and especially Palmer onto the field to control the tempo.
Although Daniel Farke continuously changed personnel, the Yorkshire representative still could not penetrate Chelsea's solid defense. The match ended after 10 minutes of tense added time. With a 1-0 victory, Chelsea will face Man City in the final.
