PSG is ready to spend big to recruit Nico Williams
According to Sport, Paris St Germain will compete with Barcelona to recruit Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao.
The 22-year-old scored eight goals and 19 assists in all competitions for Bilbao last season. And after a brilliantly successful EURO 2024 with the Spain team, Williams became the most sought-after name.
One of the clubs interested in Williams is PSG. The report reveals that PSG has long targeted Williams and they will accelerate in the near future. The Ligue 1 club have been in contact with Williams' representatives about a potential deal.
However, according to Spanish media, Williams considers the project proposed by Barcelona to be more promising and attractive. Besides, this winger also has some close friends at Blaugrana. However, PSG's financial strength will pose a great threat to Barca's ambitions.
PSG is even said to be willing to pay Williams twice as much as what Barcelona proposed. In the past few years, the Catalan team has been facing many financial difficulties. Therefore, despite the benefits that moving to Barcelona brings, PSG still has its own attraction to the Spanish player.
Transfer rumours:
- Aston Villa is monitoring Dortmund striker Karim Adeyemi, according to Daily Mail. The report indicates that, while the 22-year-old has also attracted interest from Chelsea and Juventus, he only wants to play in the Champions League next season.
This makes Villa a viable option with Dortmund only pricing Adeyemi at around £35 million. The sale of Moussa Diaby to Al-Ittihad helps the Villa Park team significantly strengthen their budget this summer.
- Newcastle midfielder Miguel Almiron is getting closer to joining the Saudi Pro League, according to Football Insider. The 30-year-old struggled for consistency last season, scoring just five goals in all competitions.
In that context, "Magpies" received many offers for the Paraguayan player. Although his name has not been revealed, it is likely that Almiron will move to a team in the Saudi Pro League in the next few days.
- Ajax is looking to borrow Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen, according to a report from TeamTalk. The Dutch team wants to borrow Eriksen instead of buying him outright to avoid risks, especially in the context that the Danish player's contract at Old Trafford will expire next summer.
Of course, Man United will not accept Ajax's proposal and prioritize selling Eriksen outright. Furthermore, they also need money to pursue other goals this summer.
