According to data from Sky Sports, Premier League clubs have spent £3.48 billion on new contracts, surpassing the £3.19 billion record in the summer of 2025.
Clubs also earned £2.17 billion from player sales, creating a total net spending of £1.31 billion.
Manchester City spent the highest amount of money in the league in this transfer window, which is 440.3 million pounds, followed by Chelsea (342.4 million pounds), Tottenham (334 million pounds) and Newcastle (275.2 million pounds).
In terms of net spending, Liverpool leads the table with £219.4 million, followed by Ipswich (£190.7 million), Tottenham (£176 million) and Arsenal (£136.6 million).
In the opposite direction, Chelsea ended the 2026 summer transfer window with a profit of £67.3 million after earning £409.7 million from player sales.
Enzo Fernandez became the most expensive signing in the Premier League this season when Man City spent £125 million to buy him from Chelsea. This figure is equal to the amount Liverpool spent to recruit Isak from Newcastle last season.
Bradley Barcola (123 million pounds) and Morgan Rogers (117 million pounds) are also among the biggest deals of the transfer window, while Elliot Anderson joined Man City for 116 million pounds and Sandro Tonali joined Spurs for 100 million pounds.
The scale of the market is most clearly shown in the high-end segment with 20 players transferring to Premier League clubs with fees from 50 million pounds or more.
Rookie Hull is the most active player recruiting team, completing 17 official contracts, followed by Ipswich (16), Chelsea (13), Brighton (12) and Coventry (11).
Meanwhile, Brighton sold 24 players on permanent contracts, the most in the league, surpassing Aston Villa and Crystal Palace (23) and Ipswich (21).
Premier League clubs once again spend significantly more than clubs in other major domestic leagues in Europe.
Serie A clubs spent £843.6m, followed by LaLiga (£603.1m), Bundesliga (£507.6m) and Ligue 1 (£490.6m).
Serie A recorded the highest net spending with 267.1 million pounds, while Ligue 1 clubs earned a total transfer profit of 467 million pounds after a series of stars moved to other national championships, especially the Premier League.
Real Madrid has the highest net spend outside the Premier League with £143.8 million, followed by Juventus (£118.2 million) and Fiorentina (£104.6 million).
Yan Diomande is the most expensive contract among other top European leagues, completing a transfer deal worth £107.1 million from RB Leipzig to Real Madrid.
