Recently, Siamsport reported that the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) has decided to terminate the contract with head coach Masatada Ishii after an important meeting held on October 21 at the federation headquarters.
The reason is that Mr. Ishii's approach and coaching methods are no longer in line with the long-term development orientation of Thai football.
The meeting was attended by many senior leaders in the country's sports industry and the Japanese coach himself. After discussion, the parties agreed to part ways with coach Ishii.
According to the FAT technical department, Mr. Ishii's coaching style does not meet expectations in building the team in a new direction.
In terms of achievements, since taking over the Thai team, coach Ishii has only achieved a win rate of 53%, with 16 wins out of a total of 30 matches. This number is not enough to convince to maintain the trust of experts.
However, FAT still expressed his sincere thanks to the Japanese strategist for his contributions during his time leading the national team.
Currently, FAT is urgently looking for a replacement face to promptly lead the Thai team in the upcoming FIFA Days.
The Golden Temple team will have a friendly match against Singapore on November 13, before facing Sri Lanka in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers on November 18.
