Recently, Mr. Yusoff Mahadi - Acting President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) provided important information related to the lawsuit against naturalized players to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
He said that FAM has sent a response to FIFA and is waiting for an official explanation before making a final decision. Upon receiving this document, FAM will have 21 days to review and select an appeal plan to CAS.
Malaysian media said that although FAM still has a chance to appeal, the possibility of overturning FIFA's verdict is very low. The current time is mainly seen as a "delay of players" and even if FIFA sends enough documents, whether FAM really takes the case to CAS or not is still open.
FIFA has previously suspended 7 naturalized players for fraud. FAM was fined 350,000 CHF, while each player was fined 2,000 CHF and banned from all football activities for 12 months.
The case immediately triggered two parallel investigations in Malaysia, including the FAM Special independent Investigation Commission and the Investigation Agency's Investigation Agency (EAIC) Special Forces, to verify the naturalization and registration of the above group of players.
Also related to the incident, previously, Malaysian public opinion had many speculations about the possibility that coach Aurelio Vidmar Cklamovski will part ways with the national team after the match against Nepal on November 18. However, Mr. Yusoff Mahadi denied the above information, but did not make a decisive confirmation.
