Coach Shin Tae-yong has left Indonesian football after PSSI announced his dismissal on January 6. The Korean coach remains in Indonesia.
Recently, the 54-year-old strategist shared some remarkable things with the Indonesian media.
"PSSI announced that they fired me at around 9:40 am on January 6. Immediately after that, they continued to talk about the new coach of the Indonesian team being announced at around 12:00 noon on the same day. Everything happened in less than 3 hours.
I don't understand how PSSI works, but of course it's my job to accept it. I'm happy to accept the decision," coach Shin Tae-yong said.
The replacement for Shin Tae-yong is former Dutch football star Patrick Kluivert, who does not have much experience or achievements in leading top-level football.
However, Mr. Patrick Kluivert is considered a choice that meets many requirements in the context that the Indonesian team owns a team of naturalized players from the Netherlands.
As for coach Shin Tae-yong, he affirmed that he has worked hard for the past 5 years in Indonesia. The Korean coach is proud of laying a solid foundation for football in the archipelago country.
"I have my own pride. I have not returned to Korea. Everything is related to the compensation after the contract," Mr. Shin Tae-yong frankly said.
Because he was fired shortly after his contract was extended for another 3 years, coach Shin Tae-yong could receive a significant amount of compensation. This amount is estimated to be around 3.6 million USD (including salary for more than 2 years left in the contract, unemployment insurance...).
