Jonny Evans and his indescribable emotions when M.U cut personnel

Veteran centre-back Jonny Evans said it was "difficult" to see Man United's staff lose their jobs due to the cuts initiated by INEOS Group.

Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is preparing to fire 250 staff at Old Trafford in order to cut costs.

Some staff have been informed that their jobs are at risk of being threatened ahead of Manchester United's pre-season tour in the US. And Jonny Evans, who has been with Man United since he was 9, said it was a difficult period.

"A lot of people have lost their jobs in the past few weeks, it's hard and painful to witness that. New owners feel that is the direction they want to pursue. But you know, not everyone can do it easily at the same time.

There are people you have known for 20 years and I think that time happens when we go on tour. So we are all a bit blurred and I'm sure everything will be resolved, things will be a little brighter when we come back" - the Irish midfielder said.

Evans is in his second spell playing for the "Red Devils" after going through academy and making his debut for the national team as a 19-year-old in 2007. Evans' brother Corry has also played for Man United, while his wife Helen is working for MUTV. Meanwhile, Evans father, Jackie, is also an academy coach.

"It's hard to see this scene. People I have known for a long time. When you work at a club like Man United, you are always dedicated and everyone is always dedicated, it is a large staff.

For such a big club, such a large club and the staff changes constantly, you have family members working there. My wife used to work at a club, so did my brother and my father.

Therefore, the club always has a feeling of dedication to the club and that is a great recognition for them. Just because they love this place so much," Evans added.

Man United's dismissal process is expected to be completed next month. The first team's players and staff are not affected, but Evans said that cutting personnel is still a topic of discussion in the dressing room during Man United's tour in the US.

"Yes, of course. Some of the staff here are friends, people the players have worked with. They have been colleagues for a long time and I'm sure they will feel the same, there's no doubt about it" - Evans shared.
