After losing the Supporters' Shield, Inter Miami are eager to conquer the first MLS trophy in history - in their first appearance in the final.
Since the beginning of the season, coach Rafael Mascherano's biggest goal has been to bring the team to this match. But now, his and his students' tasks are even more important: crossing the finish line, for the city, for the state and for the two stars who are approaching the moment of hanging up their boots.
At the moment, it is difficult to put faith in any other team than Herons. Inter Miami have shown destructive form in the post-season, winning 3 consecutive matches in the play-off round.
The home team also has the strongest attack in the US, scoring a total of 98 goals in all competitions this season - the highest number in a MLS campaign.
However, Inter Miami have yet to beat Vancouver Whitecaps throughout the season, a class they have not easily forgotten.
For their part, Vancouver Whitecaps did their job well when they headed into the first MLS Cup final in history, after an impressive 3-1 victory at Western Conference championship stadium, San Diego.
Coach Jesper Sorensen's team has shown their craft throughout the season, especially in away matches. It was their persistent form that helped the Whitecaps set a series of new club records in the official season: highest score (63), highest number of wins (18), total number of goals (66) and an outstanding goal difference (+28).
