After two seasons competing with Arsenal for the Premier League title, Manchester City now have to face old rivals Liverpool as they look to win a fifth consecutive title.
Two draws in a row in the Premier League have seen Pep Guardiola's side lose control of this early stage to Liverpool. But with 29 games unbeaten in the top flight (W23 D6) - and a midweek Champions League thrashing of Slovan Bratislava - they have every chance of getting back to winning ways.
That is especially true at the Etihad Stadium, where Man City have never been defeated within 90 minutes in 49 official matches.
They could become only the fourth English side to reach the 50-game milestone, and Fulham look like the perfect opponents as the Citizens have won each of their last 16 meetings.
It is the longest winning streak any English team has ever achieved against another team.
But Fulham will be confident going into the Etihad, given their excellent start to the season. After an opening-night defeat to Manchester United, Marco Silva's side are unbeaten in five games (W3 D2).
Thanks to that, Fulham is in the Top 6 and can enter the Top 4 if they create a shock at Etihad.
Three of their four Premier League wins over Man City have come at the Etihad, but an 18-game winless run against the blue side of Manchester (D3 L15) means they have plenty to overcome.
