Coach Arne Slot made 5 changes to the Liverpool starting lineup. The most notable of which was keeping Mohamed Salah on the bench.
The Dutch coach also switched to a 4-4-2 formation, to simultaneously take advantage of the two new recruits Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike.

In the 26th minute, the Anfield team suddenly conceded a goal. Gotze passed the ball conveniently for Kristensen to cross the corner, hit the post and fly into the net, opening the score for the away team.
However, less than 10 minutes later, Liverpool found an equalizer. In the 35th minute, Andy Robertson cut a pass from the opponent and immediately crossed the ball for Ekitike to break the offside trap, finishing neatly in the face of the goalkeeper, equalizing the score 1-1.
Just 4 minutes later, Liverpool was awarded a corner kick. Robertson cleverly blocked goalkeeper Zetterer's path, creating conditions for Van Dijk to head in close to the goal, putting the away team ahead.
In the 44th minute, Liverpool continued to score from another corner kick, when Szoboszlai hung the ball accurately for Konate to head the ball close to the goal, raising the score to 3-1.
The "Red Brigade" completed the comeback in the first half with an exciting attacking game.
Entering the second half, the more the away team played, the better they were and continuously created dangerous opportunities. In the 66th minute, Wirtz broke the offside trap and crossed the ball smoothly for Gakpo to easily tap the ball in to increase the score to 4-1.
Just 4 minutes later, the fifth goal came. This time, Wirtz continued to assist with a simple push, allowing Szoboszlai to launch a dangerous long-range shot, sealing the score at 5-1 for Liverpool.
This resounding victory not only helped Liverpool end a streak of 4 consecutive losses in all competitions, but also brought them up to 10th place in the Champions League rankings.
