Manchester United goalscorer Andre Onana appears set to permanent move to Trabzonspor after Turkey's board have begun to consider a deal.
The Cameroonian has joined Trabzonspor on a season-long loan, in the final days of the summer transfer window.
Onana's departure from Old Trafford ended a stormy two years at Man United, where he was often criticized for serious mistakes that overshadowed his form. However, the Cameroonian goalkeeper had a positive start at Trabzonspor, keeping 2 clean sheets in the first 4 matches for the new team.
Trabzonspor actually have no breakeven terms in Onana's loan deal, but it seems the Turkish side still want to keep him in for a long time despite that. According to British media, Trabzonspor's board have contacted Onana's representative and expressed their desire to sign an official contract with the Cameroonian goalkeeper after the end of this season.

The source said that head coach Fatih Tekke was very impressed with Onana's form and leadership ability at Trabzonspor. Therefore, the Turkish club is expected to open negotiations with Man United at the end of the season to discuss a long-term contract for the Cameroonian goalkeeper.
The Red Devils have yet to offer a specific price for the deal, having spent £47m to sign Onana from Inter Milan in 2023. He still has more than two and a half years left on his contract with Man United.
Sharing about her new start in the Trabzonspor shirt, Onana expressed her joy and excitement: "I am very happy. I can say that I am extremely happy. I'm starting a new project, a new adventure for myself, and I'm really happy to be here. This feeling made me extremely excited and grateful.
I have never felt so much love from people around me. It was great to be warmly welcomed and feel like at home from the first moments."
On the Turkish side, President yourselfgrul Dogan also spoke about the Cameroonian goalkeeper's ability to transfer permanently: "Onana has just joined our team, and we and the technical team are very happy with what he has shown.
He was the player who cost the club €65 million, including bonuses. Trabzonspor cannot make a permanent deal in the current situation. However, if the coaching staff continues to be satisfied, we will consider the possibility of negotiating at the end of the year".

At the age of 29, Onana has made 102 appearances for Man United, but has not been used under coach Ruben Amorim this season. Instead, the starting position was given to Altay Bayindir.
Onana has only made one appearance for Man United this season, in a humiliating defeat to Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup. Since then, the summer signing of Senne Lammens has been considered the leading candidate for the "Red Devils" number one goalkeeper position in the near future.
