Manchester United have failed in a delayed attempt to prevent Tosin Adarabioyo from moving to Chelsea.
The 26-year-old defender is a free player after his contract with Fulham expired. And Adarabioyo has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs in recent months.
Man United are looking for a new centre-back this summer and, like many other teams, are excited about the idea of signing Adarabioyo on a free transfer. However, the "Red Devils" were too slow to catch up with the English centre-back.
According to British media, Man United's move to Adarabioyo is too late as Chelsea have confirmed the successful recruitment of this central defender. This is considered a smart deal for The Blues, when adding an experienced central defender in the Premier League but not at a high cost.
Previously, coach Enzo Maresca had worked with Adarabioyo at Manchester City and believed that this player would suit his philosophy. Adarabioyo's strengths are his good ball control and impressive aerial skills. This is also what Chelsea need to overcome weaknesses in set pieces that appeared last season.
Adarabioyo has rejected a number of offers from Fulham for contract extensions in the final months at Craven Cottage. And while Newcastle had many advantages to sign the 26-year-old centre-back before, Chelsea have taken a turn.
"Ch Chelsea are a big club and this is the perfect moment for me. I was born three miles from Stamford Bridge and made my professional debut there. I am very happy and looking forward to helping the club go in the direction we want to go," Adarabioyo affirmed after joining Chelsea.
Mauricio Pochettino, a coach who has just been sacked by Chelsea, is currently a strong candidate to replace Erik ten Hag at Man United. The "Red Devils" leadership is summarizing the season and will make a decision on Ten Hag's future in the coming time.
The Dutchman helped Man United win the FA Cup last season - his second major trophy in two years. However, Ten Hag's future is still under threat with his poor Premier League record. Everyone believes that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his colleagues are still considering Ten Hag's position as part of the season-end review process.
