Overview
AS Monaco have been in poor form recently. After a 0-3 defeat to Arsenal in the Champions League, they returned to Ligue 1 and were held to a 0-0 draw by Reims despite being rated higher.
Disappointing results have left Monaco with only 1 win in the last 5 matches. Therefore, coach Adi Hutter's team needs a positive result to boost the team's spirit before entering the winter break.
Meanwhile, PSG are in better form, beating RB Salzburg 3-0 in the Champions League. They also consolidated their position at the top of Ligue 1 with a 3-1 win over Lyon. PSG are currently leading Ligue 1 by 7 points, with the best attack in the league.
In all aspects, PSG are clearly rated higher than Monaco at the moment. However, Monaco is certainly not an easy team to bully when they play at home.
Goncalo Ramos has scored in the last two games since recovering from injury. With Lee Kang-In and Bradley Barcola also in attack, they promise to cause the home team a lot of trouble.
Monaco will also be looking to Breel Embolo to hopefully surprise PSG. The striker will have support from Maghnes Akliouche and Takumi Minamino in Monaco's attack.
In terms of head-to-head record, PSG have won 25, lost 23 and drawn 18 of their previous 66 matches against Monaco. However, the two teams drew 0-0 in their most recent meeting in March.
Human resources situation
Folarin Balogun remains sidelined for Monaco, alongside Denis Zakaria and Krepin Diatta. Akliouche and Embolo could return to the starting line-up, meanwhile.
On the other side of the front line, Barcola, Lee Kang-in and Ramos can form PSG's attacking trio. In defense, Marquinhos is expected to start.
Expected lineup:
Monaco: Kohn, Singo, Kehrer, Mawissa, Teze, Magassa, Golovin, Ouattara, Minamino, Akliouche, Embolo.
PSG: Donnarumma, Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes, Vitinha, Ruiz, Neves, Barcola, Lee, Ramos.
The match between Monaco and PSG takes place at 3:00 a.m. on December 19 (Vietnam time).
