On April 25, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper was present on Nguyen Trai Street (Ky Thinh Ward, Ky Anh Town, Vung Ang Economic Zone). With a length of about 3km, this road has hundreds of trucks traveling through every day.
The situation of trucks carrying construction materials for many key projects in Vung Ang Economic Zone has caused Nguyen Trai Street to deteriorate, peel, and crack with many potholes, affecting traffic, posing a very high risk of accidents.
Mr. Nguyen Duy Hai (45 years old, residing in Ky Thinh ward, Ky Anh town) riding a motorbike through this road complained: "A truck carrying dirt and sand is constantly traveling here. While the road is damaged, many potholes make motorcyclists like us feel very uneasy. Many times when trying to avoid potholes, the risk of being caused by trucks is very high".
Mr. Tran Xuan Phuong - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ky Anh town - said that there are currently many projects under construction in Vung Ang Economic Zone.
Therefore, the large traffic volume of trucks carrying materials has led to not only Nguyen Trai Street but also some other routes quickly deteriorating, potentially causing traffic insecurity.
At a recent meeting, representatives of the People's Committee of Ky Anh town also proposed that the authorities allow the load-bearing sewers of each route. Thereby, controlling vehicle weight, avoiding overloaded vehicles leading to rapid road degradation, difficult travel, and potential traffic accidents.
