The project to merge communes of Soc Trang has been submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs for appraisal

Soc Trang - Soc Trang province has submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs for appraisal the Project on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units.

On the evening of April 25, Mr. Lam Van Man - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee - Information with Lao Dong newspaper about the province has completed and submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs for consideration and appraisal of the Project on arranging administrative units at the commune level, earlier than the Government's deadline as before 1.5.

The Secretary of Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee said that in order to implement this important project, the Party committees, authorities and all cadres and party members in the province have promoted the highest sense of responsibility, determination and efforts according to the motto "running and queuing". This is to ensure the proposed progress but still attach importance to the connection and synchronization of the project. The project has been widely consulted by the people and submitted to the provincial People's Council for consideration and decision in accordance with the process.

Project documents sent by Soc Trang province to the Ministry of Home Affairs include: Report of the provincial People's Committee; Project on arranging communal administrative units of Soc Trang province; Summary report of people's opinions and opinions of People's Councils at all levels; Resolution of the provincial People's Council; Resolution of the district People's Council (district, town, city); Resolution of the People's Council of communes (communes, wards, townships) and draft resolutions of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on arranging administrative units at the commune level.

Soc Trang province also provided a full map of the current boundary of all relevant commune-level administrative units, with the signature of the provincial People's Committee leader. And the map of the plan to reorganize commune-level administrative units was also confirmed by the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee.

In the appraisal dossier, Soc Trang province provided relevant supporting documents, especially the case of Phong Nam commune (Ke Sach district). Documents include the Administrative Map of Phong Nam commune and Decision No. 1900/QD-TTg dated October 4, 2016 of the Prime Minister on recognizing island communes in Soc Trang province, to clearly demonstrate the isolated location of Phong Nam commune from the mainland.

According to the Project on arranging commune-level administrative units of Soc Trang province, after implementing the arrangement, the province will reduce from 108 communes, wards and towns to the remaining 43 units including 8 wards and 35 communes. Of which, 4 communes are kept in their original state, not subject to reorganization due to meeting specific criteria or having isolated geographical locations: My Phuoc (My Tu district), Vinh Hai and Lai Hoa (Vinh Chau town) and Phong Nam commune (Ke Sach district).
