Overview
Brighton under new coach Fabian Hurzeler are an interesting phenomenon in the Premier League 2024-2025. The Amex team is currently ranked 5th in the rankings and has just defeated both Tottenham and Newcastle in the last 2 rounds. Before that, they also defeated Manchester United and drew with Arsenal.
Victory at St James' Park moved Brighton up to fifth in the Premier League table and just six points behind the leaders.
Hurzeler has been instrumental in reviving veteran striker Danny Welbeck. Last season, the English striker took 29 games to score 5 goals, but he has now equaled that record after just 9 games. Welbeck is also leading the scoring list for Brighton.
Wolves also brought good memories to Welbeck when he scored a double against the "Wolves" in April 2023.
Meanwhile, Wolves are having a terrible season. They are at the bottom of the table after 8 rounds, losing 7 matches and only having 1 point. With 23 goals conceded, the "Wolves" are also the worst defensive club in the league as of round 9.
Wolves have been particularly poor away from home. In just their last three away games in all competitions, Gary O’Neil’s side have conceded 11 goals.
Brighton have beaten Wolves in five of their last seven meetings, including a 3-2 win in the Carabao Cup a month ago. It would be no surprise if the Seagulls continue their winning streak and enjoy a victory.
Human resources situation
Brighton are likely to be without in-form striker Welbeck, who picked up a back injury in last weekend's 1-0 win over Newcastle.
On the other side of the front line, O'Neil will once again be unable to call upon Boubacar Traore, Enso Medina, Hwang Hee-chan and Sasa Kalajdzic. All are out due to injury.
Expected lineup:
Brighton: Verbruggen, Veltman, Van Hecke, Dunk, Kadioglu, Hinshelwood, Wieffer, Minteh, Rutter, Mitoma, Ferguson.
Wolves: Johnstone, Semedo, S. Bueno, Toti, Ait-Nouri, Bellegarde, Lemina, Andre, Gomes, Cunha, Larsen.
The match between Brighton and Wolves takes place at 9:00 p.m. on October 26 (Vietnam time).
