Overview
Before the international series of matches took place, Juventus seemed to be able to win an important victory at home against Sassuolo in the top 4 race with Como and AS Roma.
Although Kenan Yıldız's opening goal was equalized at the beginning of the second half, Bianconeri still had a chance to decide the match from the penalty spot in the final minutes.
However, captain Manuel Locatelli made a weak shot and was blocked by the goalkeeper, causing Juventus to drop the victory, thereby being 3 points behind Como and only equal to Roma.
Not only facing difficulties in Serie A, coach Luciano Spalletti's team was also eliminated early from the European arena and Coppa Italia. They have only won 2 out of the last 7 matches in the domestic league, causing their form to fall to the bottom group of the standings by stage.
Up to now, Juventus has lost 6/30 matches in Serie A - a rare bad number, when only once in the past 15 years they have had worse performances in the same period.
However, head-to-head history still leans towards Juventus when they have only lost 2 out of 57 receptions of Genoa in Turin, with 44 wins.
Notably, Juventus's most recent home defeat to Genoa has taken place since 1991. Besides, they kept a clean sheet in all 4 recent encounters in Serie A, winning 10/12 maximum points.
In the opposite direction, Genoa has made many changes since the 0-1 defeat to Juventus in August. Coach Daniele De Rossi took over the team and helped them improve their form with an average of 1.35 points per match.
However, the red and blue team is still unstable. In the most recent match, they lost 0-2 to Udinese despite controlling the game, when they were continuously counter-attacked.
Currently, Genoa is only 6 points ahead of the relegation group, and De Rossi's relegation goal is still challenging.
With only 3 wins after 14 away matches this season, Genoa clearly faces a major disadvantage when traveling to Turin.
Personnel situation
Juventus almost has enough force to choose from when Dusan Vlahovic and Arkadiusz Milik returned to the main squad at the end of March. Currently, only Vasilije Adzic is absent.
After a long period of injury break, Vlahovic has reached good fitness to take on the center forward role. However, Kenan Yıldız is likely to continue to be used as a false 9, with the support of Jeremie Boga.
In goal, Mattia Perin is gradually taking the starting spot to replace Michele Di Gregorio.
On Genoa's side, new signing Justin Bijlow quickly affirmed his role in the goal. Above him is center-back Leo Ostigard - who has scored 5 goals in Serie A this season, only one goal behind the team's top scorer Lorenzo Colombo.
However, Genoa still faces concerns about the force when Brooke Norton-Cuffy and Maxwel Cornet both have muscle problems, making their ability to play in the upcoming match uncertain.
Expected lineup:
Perin, Kalulu, Bremer, Kelly, Cambiaso, Thuram, Locatelli, Conceicao, McKennie, Boga, Yildiz.
Bijlow, Marcandalli, Ostigard, Vasquez, Ellertsson, Frendrup, Malinovskyi, Martin, Baldanzi, Vitinha, Colombo.
The match between Juventus and Genoa takes place at 11:00 PM on April 6th (Vietnam time).
