Overview
Arsenal have been struggling recently. Mikel Arteta's side have lost two of their last three Premier League games and drawn their other game against Liverpool. They are now seven points behind the Reds in the Premier League table.
Not stopping there, Arsenal also received bad news from the top when Sports Director Edu resigned. Despite that, the "Gunners" still have to find a way to get back on track with a victory against Inter Milan.
Inter are closely following Napoli in the Serie A standings this season. Seven points from their opening three Champions League group games also puts them in a good position. Arsenal also have seven points, but are two places behind Inter, in ninth place.
Italian teams are known for their tight defences. And Inter have shown that again this season in the Champions League.
Despite only five teams having faced more shots than Inter in the Champions League this season (53), they have yet to concede a goal, an especially impressive feat considering they have faced Manchester City. Inter have never kept four consecutive clean sheets in European Cup/Champions League history.
Coach Simone Inzaghi is leaning heavily on veterans this season. Inter have the oldest average starting XI in the 2024-25 Champions League (30 years, 139 days). They have also given the most minutes to players aged 30 or over in the 2024-25 season (1,482).
If Inter are to beat Arsenal now, they will have to be especially cautious in the first half. All three of Arsenal's goals in the Champions League this season have come in the first 45 minutes. In the second half of those games, they had just nine shots.
Head to head record
This is only the third time Inter and Arsenal have met in the Champions League.
The first two matches took place in the 2002-2003 season. Both matches saw the away team win (Arsenal 0-3 Inter and Inter 1-5 Arsenal).
However, Arsenal have not had a good recent record in Italy. They have failed to score in their last four Champions League games in the country (D1 L3). Emmanuel Adebayor was the last Arsenal player to score in Italy, in a 2-0 win over AC Milan in March 2008.
The match between Inter Milan and Arsenal takes place at 3:00 a.m. on November 7 (Vietnam time).
