Tottenham Hotspur escaped danger on the last day of the season, but that cannot hide the fact that this is one of the worst and most chaotic campaigns in club history.
The ninth richest team in the world almost got relegated for the first time in nearly half a century, experiencing a series of six consecutive defeats and 15 winless matches in the Premier League - numbers that have never appeared at Tottenham in decades.
Everything started with instability right from the summer of 2025. Thomas Frank was appointed to replace Ange Postecoglou - who just helped Spurs end their 17-year title drought with the Europa League title. But instead of opening a new era, Tottenham quickly sank into crisis.

Right in the first official match under Frank, Spurs dropped the 2-goal lead against PSG in the European Super Cup and then lost in a penalty shootout. This is too familiar a sign of this team's fragility.
The crisis became even more serious when Tottenham continuously failed in the transfer market. They missed Morgan Gibbs-White, and Eberechi Eze suddenly joined Arsenal - a decision that later became a painful "hit" when Eze himself scored a hat-trick against Spurs in the North London derby.
However, Tottenham's biggest problem is still injury. James Maddison broke his cross ligament before the pre-season stage, Dejan Kulusevski took a long-term break, Son Heung-min left the club, and the 51 million pound contract Xavi Simons also suffered a serious ACL injury at the end of the season.
According to statistics from Transfermarkt, Tottenham has up to 27 injuries in the season - the most in the Premier League. This is also the second consecutive season that the "Roosters" have collapsed due to physical problems, but there is almost no real solution.
Off-field fluctuations further complicated Tottenham's situation. In September last year, Daniel Levy suddenly resigned after nearly 25 years of running Tottenham. This decision sparked rumors that the club was being sold, while power was transferred to the duo Vinai Venkatesham and Johan Lange.
However, Spurs still had a promising start when they finished third in the Premier League at the end of October last year after a 3-0 victory over Everton. But everything quickly collapsed in a disastrous November.
Tottenham lost weakly to Chelsea right at home. They were booed fiercely by fans, and Jamie Redknapp called this "one of the worst performances" he had ever witnessed from Spurs.
The relationship between Frank and the dressing room also cracked. The image of Micky van de Ven and Djed Spence ignoring the Danish coach's request to show gratitude to the audience after the Chelsea defeat became a symbolic moment of internal turmoil.

The climax was the 1-4 defeat to Arsenal, where Eberechi Eze scored a hat-trick that completely collapsed the North London team. After that, Frank publicly criticized Tottenham fans for booing goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario in the defeat to Fulham. The atmosphere at Tottenham Hotspur stadium became more toxic than ever.
Frank was finally sacked in February. Igor Tudor was appointed but held power for only 44 days before Roberto De Zerbi appeared as the last resort. De Zerbi and Joao Palhinha pulled Spurs out of the disaster with a do-or-die victory over Everton in the final round.
Tottenham has successfully avoided relegation. But after all, the 2025-2026 season will still be remembered as a serious warning about the chaos in management, transfers and orientation of one of the biggest clubs in England.
