After a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Real Valladolid, Real Madrid are preparing for the next match in round 4 of La Liga, which is a trip to Levante Stadium on Saturday evening (October 3). Coach Zidane continues to receive bad news about personnel.
Accordingly, defender Dani Carvajal was determined to have suffered a cruciate ligament injury. The Spaniard has been tested for the extent of his injury, and the recovery will take up to two months.
"After tests conducted by Real Madrid's medical team, Dani Carvajal was diagnosed with an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee and his recovery will continue to be assessed," the announcement was broadcast from the Royal team.
Carvajal's absence is a big blow to Real Madrid, as he has played a very important role in defence in recent seasons. With the ability to attack and defend comprehensively, Carvajal is a full-back who can create assists and always create pressure on the opponent's corridor.
Carvajal is absent, Alvaro Odriozola is the one who took up this position as picked by coach Zinedine Zidane in the match against Valladolid in midweek. However, Odriozola's form and performance need to be further evaluated, so Zidane can consider choosing Lucas Vazquez or even pull left-back Ferland Mendy to the right wing if necessary.
Injuries will see Carvajal miss the first leg of the El Clasico against Barcelona this October, along with several other La Liga games against Levante, Cadiz, Huesca, Valencia and Villarreal. In addition, he also lost 4 matches in the Champions League group stage.
Carvajal's injury was reported just two days after Eden Hazard was also reported injured, with a break of around three to four weeks. Meanwhile, Eder Militao and Toni Kroos are also in the recovery period from injury.
Real Madrid won 2 and drew 1 in 3 rounds of La Liga 2020-21, however, their performance was not really convincing, making fans feel worried.
