On January 3 (Vietnam time), Cristiano Ronaldo and his family took a private plane to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Previously, the 37-year-old superstar reached an agreement to join Al Nassr club.
As soon as he arrived in Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo left his mark when he happily took photos with fans. On his personal page, the former Manchester United striker shared moments with fans with the status line: "Thank you Riyadh for the warm welcome! Hope to see you again at the stadium tonight".
Ronaldo will debut for Saudi Arabia fans at Al Nassr's Mrsool Stadium right after completing the medical examination. It is expected that about 30,000 fans will attend even though the stadium's capacity is only 25,000 seats.
Not long before, Ronaldo also posted a story sharing a photo of him completing a health check-up at the Al Nassr headquarters. The appearance of the owner of 5 Golden Balls immediately created a "fever" in the West Asian country. Despite his career on the other side, Ronaldo is still warmly welcomed in Saudi Arabia.
Before Al Nassr announced the signing of Ronaldo as a free transfer, their number of followers on Instagram was only 860,000. However, 2 days later, this number increased to more than 6 million and showed no signs of stopping.
According to British media, the contract between Al Nassr and Ronaldo is valid for 7 years, including 2 and a half years as a player and 4 and a half years as an image ambassador. His salary is said to be 200 million Euros/year, a record for an athlete.
