According to international media, US President Donald Trump said that the FIFA Club World Cup trophy will continue to be displayed in the Oval Office. According to him, FIFA has made a new copy of the trophy to give to Chelsea after winning the final match in the early morning of Monday.
Mr. Trump attended the final match with many members of the US cabinet and FIFA President Gianni Infantino. Both presented the trophy to Chelsea captain Reece James.
Previously, the Club World Cup trophy was first introduced by Infantino at the Sports Department in March and has since always been present at every event here.
"FIFA told me that they would not take the trophy back and I could keep it forever. And they have really made a new one. It's interesting. Now the trophy is still in the Oval Office, Trump said in an interview with the official broadcaster of the Club World Cup DAZN.
The trophy has become part of a soft diplomatic strategy under Trump, as the US prepares to host the 2026 World Cup with Canada and Mexico.
It is not yet clear whether the two trophies are different and FIFA has not yet responded officially to this issue.
