The Guardian reported that UEFA is looking to host the Champions League final at Estadio, hosted by Dragao - Porto's home stadium ( portugal). The official decision will be announced on May 13 (European time), but reputable sources have confirmed Porto city as the most suitable location.
On Wednesday (European time), the Portuguese Government announced the relaxation of the COVID-19 quarantine law, allowing people to attend events in person from May 19. However, everything was maintained at only 10% capacity. UEFA hopes that at least 20,000 fans will be allowed to take the field, accounting for nearly 40% of Dragao's total 50,035 seats.
UEFA is also proposing to lift the rules for the event and ensure travel exemptions for officials, media and sponsors. Currently, tourists from France and the Netherlands, along with other countries, must undergo a 14-day quarantine upon entering Portugal.
The UK government has said that the quarantine requirements have led to a deadlock in discussions to move the Champions League final to Wembley, after England fans were banned from their original destination, Istanbul. Due to a "English civil war" between Man City and Chelsea, UEFA decided to go to Porto.
In addition, the Europa League final between Manchester United and Villarreal will also be played with spectators. It is expected that there will be about 9,500 people, including 4,000 fans from the two clubs. The Polish government has extended the exemption of quarantine regulations for UK visitors to watch matches, meaning they do not have to undergo PCR testing when they arrive.
"To facilitate English football fans to go to Gdansk for the Europa League final, the Polish government has changed the regulations, allowing them to come for testing conducted in the UK," the Polish government's announcement said.
