The Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) is in the process of finding a new head coach for the national team. This time, the process is carried out more carefully.
PSSI technical director - Alexander Zwiers affirmed that the new Indonesian team captain not only needs leadership experience, but more importantly, "the person who can bring Indonesia to the World Cup".

Mr. Zwiers emphasized that in the international arena, the selection of coaches must have a vision beyond continental tournaments and the successor must understand that the ultimate goal is the World Cup. Although football in the archipelago has improved in the past few years, it is not enough to approach world class.
According to the plan, the new head coach of the Indonesian team will be announced within the next two weeks. PSSI is evaluating the projects of many international candidates, who have helped small teams reach the level, understand Asian football and have a modern mindset.

Meanwhile, PSSI President Erick Thohir affirmed that the new coach will be superior to his two predecessors, Shin Tae-yong and Patrick Kluivert, and denied the possibility of inviting them back.
"Both are in the past. We must look forward and find a new person, who can inherit their strengths and overcome their weaknesses, said Mr. Thohir.
While PSSI leaders cautiously evaluate each dossier, Indonesian fans expect this choice to open a new era for Indonesian football, which is towards the World Cup goal, becoming a seriously and systematically planned plan.
