On October 19, the 33rd SEA Games organizing committee conducted a draw and divided the groups for sports, including volleyball.
In the women's event, the draw put the Vietnamese women's volleyball team in Group B with Indonesia, Myanmar and Malaysia. Meanwhile, Group A has the presence of Thailand, the Philippines and Singapore (less than 1 team).

In fact, Vietnam's group is not difficult when the opponents are not too strong teams. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team have defeated them in many different tournaments in the region.
The biggest opponent of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is in Group A, promising to face the two teams in the semi-finals or finals.
In the men's event, the Vietnam men's volleyball team fell into Group A with Thailand, Singapore and Laos. This is considered a big challenge for coach Tran Dinh Tien and his students, especially when facing the home team.

In addition, Group B includes Indonesia, the Philippines, Cambodia and Myanmar.
After the draw results are available, the organizing committee will arrange a detailed match schedule and send it to the teams.
The 33rd SEA Games will take place from December 9 to 20, 2025 in Thailand, with 50 sports and 574 competitions.
